Vignesh Export is our small business based at No. 343 T. H. Road in Old Washermenpet. This is an old part of the city with a lot of history and very narrow streets. Our building is nothing special to look at, just a regular storefront with some office space in the back. We handle different kinds of goods that go out to other places. Most of our day is spent on the phone or checking lists. The traffic on T.H. Road is legendary, so we try to get our loading done very early in the morning before the street gets choked with vehicles. There’s always someone drinking coffee outside the shop next door. We know all the neighbors. The office gets a bit messy with all the shipping documents and samples lying around, but we know where everything is. It’s a family-run type of thing. We don't have a marketing budget or a fancy logo. We just rely on the work we do. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk, other days are a total rush to meet a deadline. The salt air from being near the coast sometimes makes the metal shutters a bit rusty, so they are hard to open in the morning. That’s just life in Washermenpet. We’ve been here for years and don't plan on moving. It’s a practical location for what we do, even if it’s a bit cramped.
