Sri Murugan Cutpiece is located at No. 24/17/1 A on Singara Garden 6th Lane. We’re right in the heart of Old Washermanpet. This area is always full of life and a bit of chaos, which we actually like. We deal with fabrics and cutpieces, so there are always rolls of material and scraps lying around. The shop isn't huge, but we make the most of the space we have. People from all over the neighborhood come in looking for specific pieces of cloth. We’ve been on 6th Lane for quite a while now. Most of our customers are locals who know us by name. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just open up the shutters in the morning and see who comes by. It’s a lot of measuring and cutting and chatting with folks. Sometimes it gets really crowded in here, especially during the festival seasons. We try to keep things organized, but with so much fabric, it’s a constant battle. We like the energy of Old Washermanpet. It’s an old-school way of doing business. No corporate policies, just us and the customers. We’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. If you need a specific bit of cloth, we usually have it buried somewhere in the stacks. It’s just how we run things at Sri Murugan Cutpiece every day.
