Nikhilesh Packs & Cartons

Our workshop is at number 43 in the Ekambaram Industrial Estate. That's over in Alapakka, near the Porur Post area. It’s an older industrial estate, so it has a lot of character, though the roads can be narrow for big trucks. We do a lot with cartons and boxes. Most days, the place is filled with stacks of cardboard. We have a small crew. We’ve been in Porur for quite a while now. People know us as the place with all the stacks out front. We aren't a big factory with hundreds of people. It’s just a few of us making sure the cartons are cut and folded right. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend the afternoon with a wrench. It’s part of the life. We don't have a fancy lobby. You just walk in and you're in the middle of it. The tea stall around the corner is where we spend our breaks. It’s a good place to hear the local gossip. We don't use any fancy talk to describe what we do. We make boxes. It’s straightforward. We try to keep our neighbors happy because the estate is crowded. Parking can be a nightmare during the middle of the day. We just take things as they come. It’s a decent living and we like the people we work with. Most of us take the bus to get here to Nikhilesh Packs & Cartons.
