We are down here at 352 Kapaleeshwar Nagar, right on the East Coast Road in Neelangarai. It gets pretty breezy being so close to the water, but the salt air isn't always great for the electronics we handle. Vacon Drives Controls has been sitting in this part of Chennai for a while now. Most days it is just us figuring out control panels and drives while the traffic hums along the ECR outside. It isn't a fancy setup. We have our desks, some tools, and enough space to get the work done without tripping over each other too much. Usually, the morning starts with a quick tea and then looking at whatever technical problem came in the day before. People in the neighborhood know where to find us, even if the signage is a bit faded from the sun. We don't spend much time on decorations because the focus is usually on the equipment spread out on the benches. Sometimes the power goes out, which is just part of life here in Tamil Nadu, so we just wait it out or use the backup. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living. If you walk past the shop, you’ll probably see a couple of us standing near the door catching a bit of air. We just keep things moving, day in and day out, making sure the drives are sorted and the customers get what they need without too much fuss.
