Up on 6th Street in Nagammai Nagar, you’ll find us surrounded by glass tanks and the constant sound of bubbling water. Nature Aquarium isn't a quiet place because the air pumps are always going. Avadi gets pretty hot, so we spend a lot of time checking water temperatures and making sure the fish are doing okay. It’s a small shop, tucked away at No. 8, and honestly, it’s a bit cramped with all the bags of colorful gravel and plastic plants stacked up. People from around the neighborhood stop in, sometimes just to look at the tetras or the big goldfish swimming around. We spend our mornings scrubbing green algae off the glass and cutting back live plants that grow too fast. It’s a messy job, getting your arms wet up to the elbows and spilling water on the floor occasionally. There’s always a faint smell of fish flakes in the air. We aren't trying to be some high-end gallery; it’s just a place for people who like keeping a little bit of nature in their living rooms. Sometimes the kids come in after school and press their faces against the glass, and we have to wipe away the fingerprints later. It takes a lot of patience to get a tank looking right, and most of our time is just spent doing the basic chores that keep everything alive and moving.
