N.K. Ahammed

N.K. Ahammed is the name on the door here at Dr. Natesan Road in Triplicane. The address is 73-77, though some people know it as the new number 153. It’s an old part of the city, and we’ve been part of this street for quite a long time. The shop is usually full of stuff, and it might look a bit disorganized to someone walking in for the first time, but we know where everything is. Triplicane is always bustling. There is a lot of history in these buildings. We see a lot of regular faces coming through the door, people from the neighborhood who have been coming here for years. It’s not a big corporate operation. It’s just us handling the day-to-day business. The heat can be quite something in the summer, especially with the narrow streets, but we have a couple of fans that keep things moving. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just rely on people knowing we are here. Sometimes the stock takes up most of the floor space, and you have to squeeze past. We don't mind. It’s just how it is. We start early and stay until the work is done. It’s a simple way of living and working. Dr. Natesan Road is a lively place to be, and we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We just do our bit and keep the shop running.
