Mumtaz Ahmed & Co.

We are located at No. 47 on Kattur Sadayappan Street, right in the middle of Periamet. If you know this part of the city, you know it smells like leather and old buildings. Mumtaz Ahmed & Co. has been part of this street for a long time. The building is old, with thick walls and a heavy door that sometimes sticks when the weather gets damp. Inside, we have stacks of materials piled up high, almost reaching the ceiling in some of the back rooms. It is a lot of physical work, hauling things in and out and making sure nothing gets ruined by the dust. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers or just sitting at the wooden table checking over the manifests. The light isn't the best in the back, so we have these bright tubelights that hum a little bit. Periamet is always loud with the sounds of carts and people shouting, so it is rarely quiet in the office. We usually have a pot of tea going somewhere and the smell of it mixes with the earthy scent of the hides we keep. We don't really do much in the way of decorating the place. It is a working space, plain and simple, and we like it that way because it keeps us focused on what we are doing. There are always people coming and going, mostly regulars who have been stopping by number 47 for years to see what we have in stock.
