Mugil Foundation

You can find Mugil Foundation at No. 28/11 on Nagappan Street, right near Ragiv Gandhi Street in Nesapakkam. This part of town is pretty quiet compared to the main roads, which is nice for us. We started this because we saw things that needed doing in the community. It is not a big operation with lots of staff. Most of the time it is just a few of us sitting around a table figuring out how to help someone out or organize the next project. The office is simple. We have some old chairs and a lot of paperwork that seems to never end. Sometimes the rain makes the street a bit muddy and hard to walk through, but we still show up. We talk to a lot of neighbors. People know where we are and they stop by to chat or ask for advice on things. It’s a very local feel here. We don’t have a fancy website or a big sign. We just use the space we have to do what we can. Some days are slow and we just sit and drink coffee, and other days we are running around until late at night. It feels good to be working in Nesapakkam. It’s home for us and we just want to keep things going as best as we can without making a big deal out of it.
