Valankanni is a place many people visit for the shrine, but for us at M/S Petron Engg Construction Ltd, it’s just where we work. We are located at 35, Muchandi Nagai District. It’s a coastal area, so the salt air is always around us. The office is a simple building. We don’t have air conditioning that works all the time, so we leave the windows open. You can hear the sounds of the town and the birds outside. It’s a bit of a slower lifestyle compared to the big cities like Chennai. We do construction work, so there’s always a lot of mud or dust on someone’s shoes. Our desks are covered in blueprints and old coffee mugs. We’ve been in this part of Nagai for a while. Everyone in the office knows each other’s business, which is just how it goes in a place like this. We aren't a big, cold corporation. We are just a group of people who know how to build things. Sometimes we sit outside in the evening once it cools down a bit. It’s a decent way to spend a career. We just take things one day at a time and try to stay on top of the schedule. It is practical work for practical people, and we don't mind the quiet. The local tea is good, and that's usually enough to keep us going.
