Down at 3S Rattan Bazar, things are usually pretty hectic from the moment we open the shutters. If you’ve ever walked through the market, you know how it is—lots of noise, people moving everywhere, and bikes squeezed into every corner. Our shop is right in the middle of all that. We handle electrical supplies, so the shelves are pretty much packed from the floor to the ceiling with boxes. Sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle to find a specific fuse or a length of wire when the shop gets crowded, but we usually know where everything is tucked away. It’s a family-run sort of feeling here, even if it’s just a regular business day. We drink a lot of tea while talking to the contractors and homeowners who stop by. Not every day is a good one; sometimes deliveries are late or a customer is grumpy because their wiring at home is a mess. We just listen and try to give them what they need from the stock we have on hand. Rattan Bazar has changed a lot over the years, but our spot stays mostly the same. The wooden counter has some scratches and the light flickers once in a while, which is funny for an electrical shop. We don’t have a big corporate team, just a few of us making sure the orders get sorted. It’s basic, honest work that keeps the lights on for our neighbors.
