Govindappa Naick Street is always a bit of a chaotic place to be. If you’ve ever been here, you know how it is—bikes, carts, and people everywhere. We are located at number 137, up on the first floor. You have to walk up some narrow stairs to get to us. It’s an old building, like most of the ones in this area, so it has that lived-in feel. We deal with electrical stuff, so there are coils of wire and boxes of switches pretty much everywhere you look. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find a fancy showroom. It’s more of a working office where we manage orders and talk to customers who have been coming to this street for years. The first floor gets a bit of a breeze if we leave the windows open, but mostly it’s just the sound of the street coming up from below. We spend most of our time on the phone or writing out invoices by hand. It’s a traditional way of doing things, but it works for us. We know where everything is in the stacks of boxes, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. Being in the heart of this electrical market means we see a lot of different people every day. We don’t do anything fancy, just supply the parts that keep the lights on for others. It’s a long day, but being part of this old market is just how we've always operated.
