Modern Kitchens

Our workshop is at New No 3/395, Plot No 13, on the Kundrathur Main Road in Madanandapuram. If you know the area, you know how busy that road gets with all the traffic heading towards the city. We’re right in the thick of it. The space is mostly dedicated to cutting wood and assembling kitchen cabinets. There’s almost always a layer of sawdust on the floor and the sound of a drill going in the background. It’s a very hands-on environment. We don’t have a fancy air-conditioned showroom with a bunch of sales people in suits. Usually, when you walk in, you’ll see someone covered in wood shavings working on a cupboard door. We’ve got a small area where we keep the finished pieces before they get loaded onto the rickshaws or small trucks for delivery. The Madanandapuram sun can be quite brutal in the afternoons, so we usually have the big front shutters open to catch whatever breeze comes off the road. It’s a loud and dusty place, but we like it that way because it means we’re actually getting things built. Most of the guys here have been doing carpentry for years, so they know exactly what they’re doing without needing much direction. We just focus on the measurements and making sure the hinges are straight. It’s honest, hard work that keeps us busy from dawn till dusk on most days.
