M.G. Mothiwala & Co.

Down here on Lattice Bridge Road in Adyar, things move pretty fast. M.G. Mothiwala & Co. has been a part of this neighborhood for a while. You can find us at number 15, right where the traffic usually piles up in the afternoons. It’s a lived-in space, not one of those shiny new glass buildings you see popping up everywhere. The walls have some scuffs and the floor has seen better days, but it’s home to us. We deal with various goods and the paperwork that comes with it. Usually, there’s a pot of tea going somewhere in the back. People come in and out all day, some just to say hello and others for business. It gets humid in Chennai, so we keep the windows open when we can. The noise from the street is just part of the background now. We don't spend much time on fancy talk; we just do our jobs and go home to our families. Every morning we open up, sweep the front, and get to work. It’s a family-run kind of feel, even on the stressful days. We know the other shop owners nearby, and we help each other out when needed. Being in Adyar is good for us because everyone knows where LB Road is. We’re just a bunch of people trying to run a decent business and stay honest. It's nothing fancy, but it's what we know how to do best after all these years.
