Mechanic

Out here in Adambakkam, specifically on Plandiamman Kovil Street at number 3, things stay pretty busy. Being a mechanic means your hands are almost always covered in something, whether it’s grease or just dust from the road. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, but we have all the tools we need tucked away in the corners. Chennai weather is no joke, so by noon, we are all sweating quite a bit while working on whatever vehicle came in that morning. We get a lot of regulars from the neighborhood who just drop by to ask a question or get something small looked at. The street itself is a bit narrow, so things can get cramped when there are too many bikes or cars waiting their turn. We don't really do the whole corporate thing with fancy waiting rooms or uniform shirts. It’s just us in our regular clothes, trying to figure out why an engine is making a weird noise. Usually, there’s a radio playing somewhere in the background, mostly just for some noise while we work. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, and the local tea shop knows exactly how we like our drinks. It’s a simple setup. We open early, stay until the light goes, and try to make sure everything that leaves here is actually working right. It’s a lot of manual labor, but it’s what we know.
