Madras Hardtools Private Limited is at 1, Perianna Maistry Street. We have been using Post Box No. 1687 for a long time too. This street is right in the heart of the old trading area. It is very crowded and the streets are narrow. You can barely get a car through here sometimes, so most people walk or use cycles. Our building is old, like most of the others around here. Inside, it is filled with all sorts of tools and hardware. It smells like oil and cold metal. We have shelves that go all the way to the high ceiling. Sometimes we have to use a tall ladder to find what a customer is looking for. It is a bit like a maze. We do not have air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that hum. We have been here for years, and we know many of the shopkeepers on the street. It is a community of sorts. People come to us when they cannot find a specific tool anywhere else. We might have it tucked away in a corner somewhere. We do not do much advertising. Word of mouth usually brings people in. We are not a corporate chain. It is just us, working in the heat and keeping track of thousands of little items. It can be exhausting, but it is what we know. We close up shop when the sun goes down and go home.
