M.A. Hadi & Co.

M.A. Hadi & Co. has been at 18 Muthial Chetty Street in Purasawalkam for quite a long time. If you have ever been to Purasawalkam, you know how crowded and narrow the streets can get. Our shop is right in the thick of it, surrounded by other old businesses and the constant noise of horns and people talking. We deal with a variety of goods, and the shelves inside are stacked high with boxes that have been there for months. The building itself is old, with high ceilings and walls that could probably use a fresh coat of paint. We open up early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool and sweep the front step before the crowds arrive. Most of our customers are people who have been coming to this street for years, and we know many of them by name. We still use physical ledgers for some of our accounts because it is just the way we have always done things. It is a dusty environment, and the light coming in from the street is often blocked by the delivery vans parked outside. We spend our days answering questions, weighing items, or just sitting on the wooden stools near the counter. There is a certain rhythm to the street here that never changes, and we are just a small part of that daily life. It is honest work in a very old part of the city.
