Lee Bags Works

Lee Bags Works is up on the first floor here at No. 80/84 on Seven Wells Street. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs. We’ve been making and fixing bags in this space for a long time. The room is often full of fabric scraps and thread. It gets dusty, but that’s just how it is when you’re working with these materials. Seven Wells Street is always busy. You can hear the noise from the street even when the windows are shut. We have a few sewing machines going most of the day. Sometimes they break down and we have to tinker with them. It’s a small operation. We make various kinds of bags for different uses. People around here know where to find us. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It's mostly just the workspace. My hands usually have some ink or glue on them by the end of the day. We take things as they come. If someone brings in a torn strap, we see what we can do. It’s steady work. We like being in this part of the city. There’s always something happening outside. We keep the door open when it gets too hot inside. The neighbors sometimes drop in for a chat when things are slow. We have coffee together in the afternoons. It keeps us going through the long hours.
