Kutty Furnishing Co is located right on Pycrofts Road, directly across from the Zam Bazaar Police Station. If you’re in Royapettah, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times. It’s an old building, number 98, and it has that classic feel of a local shop. We focus more on the fabrics and the softer side of furniture. We have rolls of curtain material and upholstery fabric stacked up all over the place. Sometimes it’s hard to see the floor because we have so much stock. It’s a busy street, and the noise from the bazaar is always there in the background. We don't have fancy air conditioning, so the doors stay open to catch whatever breeze comes off the road. People come in with old cushions they want to recover or looking for some new curtains for their front room. We don’t do big sales pitches. You just look through the books or the rolls, and we tell you how much it costs per meter. My father started this, and we’ve kept it going the same way. We know the regular customers by name, and they know us. It’s a bit messy sometimes, especially when we’re cutting fabric for a big order, but that’s just how we work.
