Mickey Mouse

Mickey Mouse is our little shop at 65 Krishnappa Tank Street. We are right opposite Durga School. If you come by during the day, you’ll hear the kids playing and the teachers talking. It’s a very lively street. We’ve been here for many years, and the shop is like a second home to us. It’s quite small and filled to the ceiling with all kinds of things. We don't have much room to move, and sometimes we trip over boxes. It’s not a polished store with glass displays. It’s a bit messy, but we know where everything is. We don't have a website or a computer to track things. We just use a paper notebook and a pen. Most of our customers are parents from the school or people who live on the street. We know most of them by name. My brother and I run the place together. Sometimes we argue about where to put new stock, but we get over it quickly. We don't do any advertising. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but people still find us. It’s a simple life. We open early in the morning and close when the street gets quiet. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot, but our shop stays pretty much the same. It’s just a local spot for the community and we plan to stay here for much longer.
