K.M. Saleem & Co.

Our place is at No. 34, Clemens Road, right in the middle of Purasawalkam. If you know the area, you know how busy it gets with the traffic and the shops nearby. We’ve been here at K.M. Saleem & Co. for a while now. The office isn't anything fancy, just some desks, a lot of files, and a fan that clicks a bit when it's on high. In the mornings, the street starts getting loud early. We usually open up, get some tea from the stall around the corner, and start going through the day's work. It gets dusty sometimes because of the construction down the road, so there’s always someone wiping down the tables. People walk in and out all day. Some are just looking for directions, others are here for business. The light in the afternoon hits the front window in a way that makes it hard to see the computer screens, so we have these old curtains we pull shut. It’s a quiet kind of busy inside. We don't have a big reception area or anything. You just walk in and someone is usually sitting right there to talk to you. The floor is that old-fashioned tile that stays cool even when it's hot outside. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a lot to catch up on, and you can hear the evening prayers from nearby. It’s just how things go here on Clemens Road. We keep the doors open mostly to let a breeze in.
