K.K.Eye Hospital

Down at 125 Mudichur Road, right by 34 Gandhi Road in Tambaram West, you’ll find K.K.Eye Hospital. It’s a corner of the city that stays pretty congested. People are always walking past the windows on their way to the shops or the station. We’ve been focusing on eyes here for a long time. The waiting room has these old wooden chairs and a lot of charts on the walls showing diagrams of how the eye works. Most people come in because they can’t see the TV clearly anymore or they need new glasses. We do a lot of testing in the back rooms where it’s dark. It’s a small team here. We know each other well and we know the neighborhood. Tambaram West has a specific feel to it, very busy and a bit cramped. The stairs in the building are a bit narrow, so we have to tell people to watch their step. On rainy days, the floor gets a bit muddy from all the foot traffic. We don’t have a big marketing department or anything like that. People mostly find us because they live nearby or their neighbor told them about us. We spend a lot of time cleaning the equipment and making sure the files are in order. It’s a lot of routine work, checking vision and writing out prescriptions. That is basically what our days look like from morning until we close up the shutters.
