Rich Look Uniforms

You can find us on the second floor of a building on Kilpauk Garden Road. It’s a busy area and the stairs up to our shop are narrow. We have sewing machines going most of the day, so there is always a steady rhythm of needles hitting fabric. The floor is usually covered in little snips of thread and scraps of navy blue or white cloth. We do a lot of uniforms for schools and local businesses around here. It gets very hectic in May and June before the new school year starts. We have shelves stacked high with rolls of different materials. Sometimes the heat in the workshop gets to be a bit much, but we keep the fans going as fast as they’ll turn. We spend a lot of time with measuring tapes around our necks, checking the fit on kids who won't stand still. It’s hard work on the eyes and the back. We aren't a big factory, just a group of us who know how to sew. We’ve been in Kilpauk for years and know most of the shopkeepers on this block. People bring in their old uniforms for us to patch up too. We just keep our heads down and get the stitching done. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but people know where we are. We just focus on getting the orders finished on time.
