Khandelwal Pipes

Khandelwal Pipes is situated at 83, Ayyappa Chetty Street. If you’ve ever walked down this street, you know it’s a hub for all sorts of building materials. Our shop is right there at number 83, and you can’t miss it because of all the pipes stacked up. We have pipes of all sizes leaning against the walls and piled on the floor. It’s a bit of a jumble, but we know where everything is. The street is narrow, and when a truck comes to unload, it pretty much blocks everything for a bit. Our neighbors are used to it, and so are we. The office is just a small desk at the back where we keep the ledger and the phone. It’s usually dusty because of all the movement outside, and the ceiling fan makes a clicking sound that we’ve stopped noticing. We spend most of the day on our feet, helping people find the right size or type of pipe. We don’t have a website or anything like that; most people just walk in or call us up. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, but it works for us. Ayyappa Chetty Street is a busy place, and there’s always someone looking for something. We just try to be helpful and get them what they need without too much fuss. It’s a simple life, but it keeps us busy from morning till evening.
