We are over in Saidapet, right in the Baid Metha Complex on Mount Road. If you know where J5 Little Mount is, we are just a short walk from there in J Block. This place is mostly just coils of wire and machines that bend things into shape. It gets pretty hot in the summer, but we keep the fans going. Making springs is a weird job because you have to be so exact with the tension and the loops. One small mistake and the whole batch is useless for the customer. We spend a lot of time checking the wire thickness. Most of us have been working these machines for a long time. It’s noisy and there is always that smell of oil in the air. We don't have a big reception area or anyone to greet you at the door. People just walk in the back and talk to us while we work. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but we’re still here at Plot 16. Sometimes we have a lot of orders at once and the place is a mess of boxes and metal, but we manage to get through it. It’s just us doing the work day in and day out. We aren't trying to be anything other than a shop that makes springs. If someone needs something specific, we look at their samples and see if the machines can handle it. Usually, they can. We just keep our heads down.
