Jb Enterprises sits on A15-16 in Phase II along the 2nd Main Road. If you know the Tambaram area, you know how busy the Special Economic Zone gets during the shift changes. Our building is a practical space, nothing too fancy, just walls and desks where we get the day's work done. Some mornings the humidity is already high before we even unlock the doors. We spend a lot of time checking lists and making sure things are moving right. The road outside has been there a long time and you can see the wear on it from all the trucks. Sometimes we go out for a quick tea at one of the stalls nearby when the afternoon slump hits. It’s a lot of routine. Most of us have been coming to this same spot for years, so we know the security guards and the folks at the neighboring units pretty well. We don't have a big lobby with glass windows or anything like that. It is just a place where the lights stay on late some nights and the fans keep humming. People think working in an SEZ is all about big gates and ID cards, which it is, but inside it’s just us doing what we need to do. It’s quiet in the office mostly, except for the sound of the road traffic coming through the gates. We just keep our heads down and finish what needs finishing.
