Asian Fibre Glass

You can find Asian Fibre Glass up on the first floor at Pillaiyar Koil Street in Jafferkhanpet. The building has an old number 7 and a new number 2, which sometimes confuses delivery drivers, but we’ve been here long enough that most locals know the spot. Working with fibre glass is a bit of a messy business. There’s often dust in the air and you have to be careful with your skin. I’ve been doing this for quite some time now. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be organized with how we stack the materials. We do a lot of different things with the glass fibers, mostly for industrial use. It’s hot work, especially in the summer months when the air gets thick. We don't have a fancy showroom or air conditioning. It’s just a workshop where we get things done. I spend most of my time cutting and shaping. My clothes usually have little bits of glass on them by the time I go home. Jafferkhanpet is a crowded area, but it's home for us. We just focus on the orders we have and try to get them out the door on time. It’s a lot of physical labor and long hours. We aren't a big corporation, just a few people working hard on the first floor to make things work out for everyone involved. It keeps us busy.
