Itc Limited (Greeting Cards Business)

Working on the 5th floor of the Tic Center on Anna Salai means we get a decent view of the traffic, though nobody really has much time to look out the window. This part of the business is all about paper and colors. We spend a lot of time looking at different card stocks and trying to make sure the ink dries just right. It is a bit different from the other things the company does, focusing specifically on how people send messages to each other. The office is usually cluttered with samples and envelopes. Sometimes the elevators are slow, so we end up waiting around with stacks of card designs. There is a lot of back and forth about which patterns look okay and which ones don't work for a birthday or a wedding. We aren't trying to be overly fancy, just practical. People come in and out, couriers are always dropping off something, and the printers are almost always humming in the background. It gets a bit hectic around the holidays when everyone wants things at the same time. We just try to stay organized and keep the boxes moving. It is steady work. Some of us have been in this building for years now and we know exactly where the best lunch spots are nearby. It’s just a regular office life here in Chennai, making things that people end up putting on their shelves or mailing across the country.
