International Seaport Dredging Ltd

We are based out of Room No. 112 in the Asian Guest House on C.N.K. Road in Chepauk. It is a bit of a strange place for a company called International Seaport Dredging Ltd, but it has worked for us so far. Chennai is a big hub for shipping, and being near the coast is important for what we do. Dredging is basically just moving mud and sand from the bottom of the water so ships can actually get through the ports without getting stuck. It is a slow, heavy process that most people never see because it happens underwater. Our office in the guest house is where we manage the crews and the equipment. It is definitely not a corporate skyscraper, just a practical room where we get the job done. The heat in Chennai can be pretty intense, especially when we are down near the docks, but you get used to it after a few summers. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating with different port authorities. Most of our work is about maintaining the depth of the shipping channels. It is honest work and someone has to do it, otherwise the big ships wouldn't be able to come in at all. We have been at New No. 27 for quite some time now. If you are walking down C.N.K. Road, you might miss us if you aren't looking, but we are there, keeping the ports clear. It is not fancy, but it is what we do.
