Indwel Precision Gears

Our place, Indwel Precision Gears, is at 46 Padaslai Road in the Agraharam area of Kil Ayanambakkam. It’s a bit of a quiet spot compared to the main industrial zones, but we stay busy. The building is a simple structure that we’ve used for a long time. Inside, we have our gear-cutting machines lined up. They make a very specific rhythmic sound that you start to hear even when you’re at home. The floor is often slick with oil because that’s just how gear manufacturing is. We have a small crew of workers who live nearby. Most mornings start with a quick chat about what needs to be cut and checking the material that arrived. The office is just a small room with a wooden desk and a lot of old ledgers stacked up. We don't have a big sign outside, just the address and the name. Padaslai Road is narrow, so we have to be careful when the big lorries come to drop off steel blanks. The humidity in Chennai makes the work tiring, especially when the machines are running hot. We take a long break in the afternoon when the sun is at its worst. We aren't doing anything fancy; we’re just making gears that go into other machines. It’s precise work but the environment is very basic. We like it that way because we know where everything is.
