Industrial Tools Agency is right on the busy stretch of Broadway at 165/1. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets with people and carts all day long. We’ve been here for years, squeezed in among all the other shops and businesses. It’s a lot of work keeping track of all the different tools we have in stock. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, so we’re always climbing ladders to grab something for a customer. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside, but we know where everything is kept. Most of our days are spent talking to the regulars who come in from the local workshops. They usually have a specific tool in mind, and we do our best to find it in the stacks. It’s noisy with all the street sounds coming through the front door, but we’re used to it by now. We don’t really do anything fancy with the display; the tools are just there for whoever needs them. Sometimes we have to move boxes out to the sidewalk just to make room to walk around inside. It’s a bit chaotic, but it’s an honest way to spend the day. We drink a lot of tea and keep the shop open until the sun goes down. It’s just us and the tools, day in and day out, in the middle of all that Broadway hustle. We wouldn't know what to do with ourselves if it were quiet.
