Indrakumar & Co.

If you’ve ever walked down Govindappa Naick Street, you know how crowded it gets. We are at number 174. Indrakumar & Co. has been operating out of this building for a long time. The street is narrow and there are always carts and bikes blocking the way. It’s a bit of a maze around here. Inside our place, it’s mostly just shelves and stacks of ledger books. We aren't big on computers for everything yet. We still like to write things down in the big books. It feels more solid that way. The office is a bit old-fashioned. We have some wooden chairs that have been here since the start. There is a lot of dust because of all the construction nearby, but we try to keep it clean. Our day usually starts with a bit of a struggle to get through the crowd to the door. Once we’re inside, it’s all about talking to suppliers and checking the stock. We don’t have a website or anything like that. Most of our business comes from people just knowing where we are. It’s a noisy neighborhood, but that’s the charm of this part of town. Sometimes we sit out front when it’s not too hot. We know all the neighbors. It’s a community. We don't try to be anything we aren't. Just a local shop doing its bit every day without much fuss and keeping things simple.
