India Pistons Limited

Being over here in Sembiam, specifically at Huzur Gardens, feels a bit different than the newer industrial parks you see popping up. There is a lot of history in this part of town, and you can really see it in the old buildings and the way the big trees have grown up right against the boundary walls. At India Pistons Limited, we spend most of our hours dealing with heavy metal and a lot of heat. It’s loud inside the plant, and the smell of the shop is something you just get used to after working here for a few days. We make pistons, which sounds like a simple enough thing, but it takes up every bit of our time. The main gates at Huzur Gardens see a lot of people coming and going for every shift change. We’ve got quite a few folks who have worked here since they were young men, and now they are the ones showing the new guys how to handle the older machinery. It’s definitely not a quiet place, but it has its own sort of rhythm once things get moving. Lunchtime is the only time things finally settle down for a minute, and you can actually hear the birds in the garden area if the traffic on the main road isn't too loud. We don't spend any time on fancy offices. Most of the real work happens right on the floor where the metal is moving.
