HMT Architects

Our office sits on the first floor along Arcot Road in Kodambakkam. It is a noisy part of Chennai, especially with the high road right there and the constant stream of bikes and buses. We have been working as HMT Architects from this spot for some time, and the layout is pretty simple. There are a few tables, some chairs for visitors, and stacks of blueprints that seem to grow every week. We spend a lot of hours discussing how to fit a kitchen or a staircase into a tight space. Kodambakkam has a lot of history with buildings, and we just try to add to that in a practical way. Usually, the morning starts with tea and a look at the schedule. We do not have a big team of receptionists or anything like that. If you call, one of the guys working on a drawing will probably pick up. The heat outside can be tough, but the office stays okay. We mostly deal with local folks who want to build a house or fix up an old one. It is about getting the measurements correct and making sure the plan works for the family. We are not into the flashy side of things. We just like to get the work done and go home when the sun sets over the high road. It is just a regular office where we do our best with the pens and scales.
