H. Kheti Industrial Suppliers is found on Thambu Chetty Street, which is one of those old, busy parts of the city that never seems to get quiet. Our building has two numbers, old 100 and new 205, which can sometimes confuse the delivery drivers who haven't been here before. We are situated near the Kaligaman Coral landmark. The street is always filled with the sounds of carts and people carrying heavy boxes. Inside our shop, we keep a lot of industrial parts and hardware tucked away on tall wooden shelves. It’s a bit cramped because we try to stock as much as possible so we don't run out when a customer needs something specific. We have been working out of this location for a long time and the walls show the age of the place. We don't bother with fancy displays or bright lights because the people who come here know what they are looking for. Usually, we spend the morning checking the lists and making sure the orders are ready for pickup. Thambu Chetty Street is narrow and the traffic can be a nightmare during the middle of the day. We mostly just drink our coffee and wait for the rush to die down while we organize the back room. It’s a steady job and we like being part of the old market culture here. Most of the other shop owners are friends we’ve known for decades and we always help each other out.
