We’ve been running things here on Main Road in Ayanavaram for a good while now. Our spot at 52 Vasantha Garden is easy to find if you’re looking for the line of cars out front. It’s a neighborhood place. Most of the people who come by live just a few streets away. We spend our mornings checking engines and figuring out why the brakes are squeaking. It’s nothing fancy, just a garage with a lot of tools scattered around. Sometimes it feels like we’re running out of space, but we make it work. The street gets pretty crowded in the afternoons. We see a lot of the same faces every week. My cousin helps me out with the heavy lifting. We don’t use a lot of high-tech stuff, just what we know works. If a car is acting up, we poke around until we find the problem. It’s greasy work. There’s always an old radio playing in the corner, though half the time it’s just static. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Chennai. We just like fixing things. People bring us tea sometimes when they drop off their vehicles. It’s that kind of place. We keep the gates open until late most nights because there’s always one more car to finish. It's just how the days go here in Ayanavaram. We try our best to get people back on the road.
