Meenam Textile Printers

Our shop is on 1st Street in Narsingapuram which is right in the Guindy area. Most people know this part of the city for being busy and a bit crowded. We are at No. 13 and it is a typical textile printing setup. We have the long tables laid out for the fabric and the screens are leaning against the walls. The smell of the dye is something you never really get out of your clothes. We spend most of our time leaning over the tables or washing out the screens in the back. Guindy gets very hot and the fans in here do not do much besides move the warm air around. We start the work early to avoid the worst of the heat. The street outside is narrow so getting deliveries in can be a real headache. Often the trucks have to stop a bit further away and we carry the rolls in. We do not have a big staff just a few guys who have been doing this for years. We know each other well and we just get on with the tasks. It is not a clean environment because there is ink everywhere you look. Even the door handles have stains on them. We do not mind though because it shows we are working. It is a simple life and we are just another small shop in a big busy city. We take our lunch under the shade of the building when we get a chance. It is a noisy area but we just keep at it.
