Guide Lines Exports

You can find us at 34 Iyyappa Chetty Street, though the old number 73/1 is still on some of the older maps. Guide Lines Exports is a small operation located in a fairly narrow street. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we have to load up the smaller trucks. The building is one of those older brick structures that stays relatively cool even when it’s hot outside. We don’t have a big sign out front, just a small one by the door. Inside, it’s mostly desks, computers, and a lot of samples from different manufacturers. We act as the middleman for a lot of exports, so we are always on the phone negotiating or checking on port schedules. It’s a lot of coordination and sometimes it feels like we’re just pushing paper, but it’s important work for the companies we help. The neighborhood is full of small businesses like ours, so there’s a sense of community. We know the guy who delivers the mail and the lady who sells snacks at the corner. We don't have a fancy board of directors. It’s just a few of us making sure the export guidelines are followed so nothing gets stuck in customs. It’s a steady pace, and we’ve gotten pretty good at navigating the bureaucracy of international shipping over the years. We just take it day by day and hope the shipments arrive on time.
