Up on the first floor of 27a Mooker Nallamuthu Street in George Town, that’s where M. M. Naina Exports Pvt. Ltd. is. Being in George Town means it’s always crowded and busy outside. The street is full of shops and people moving everywhere. Our office is a bit of a climb up the stairs, but once you’re inside, it’s a bit quieter. We’ve been doing this for a long time. Even though we are a private limited company, we still run things like a small family shop. We deal with exports, mainly focused on getting goods from here to places overseas. There’s a lot of paperwork involved, so the desks are usually covered in forms and stamps. We don’t have a big fancy sign, just a small one by the door. Most people who work here have been around for a decade or more. We know the rhythm of the street and when to expect the mail. It’s a tight space, but we make it work. Sometimes we have to move boxes around just to find a place to sit. We don't mind the clutter though; it means we are working. We don’t have a website that’s updated every day or a social media person. We just use the phone and the fax machine when we have to. It’s a practical way to live.
