Hikma Exports

Our office is on the first floor at No. 84/3 Moore Street. It’s an old part of the city and the building has those high ceilings and thick walls. We handle exports, so a lot of our day is spent looking at documents and tracking shipments on the computer. Moore Street is a narrow one, and you can always hear the city sounds coming up through the windows. We have a few desks pushed together and a lot of filing cabinets that are starting to overflow. It’s not the most modern office you’ve ever seen, but it’s where we do our business. We spend a lot of time talking to people in different time zones, so someone is usually here early or staying late. The tea here is made on a small stove in the back room. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of people who know how the shipping business works. Sometimes there are problems at the port or the paperwork gets stuck, and we have to spend hours on the phone fixing it. We don't have fancy brochures or a big sign outside. Most people find us through word of mouth or because they’ve been working with us for years. We just try to get the goods from one place to another without too much trouble. It’s steady work and it keeps us on our toes every day of the week.
