Gee Kay Furnishers

We've been here on Abdul Razack Street for quite a few years now. Gee Kay Furnishers isn't a fancy showroom or anything like that. It's just a place where we keep a lot of wood and tools. People from around Saidapet come in when they need a new bed or maybe a cupboard fixed. Sometimes it gets crowded with all the sawdust and half-finished frames lying around. My father used to run things differently but now we just try to get the work done on time. It is a small space, so you might miss it if you aren't looking closely at the street numbers. We spend most of our mornings just cutting wood. Every piece is different, you know? One day it's a heavy teak door and the next it's just a simple stool for a kitchen. It's dusty work. We don't have a big office staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the saw. People walk in, tell us what they want, and we draw it on a scrap of paper. Sometimes the wood takes longer to arrive than we expect. That’s just how it goes here. We aren't trying to change the world, just making sure the legs on your table don't wobble. It’s a decent living and the neighbors are nice enough. Stop by if you’re near the street, though the parking is a bit of a nightmare around here.
