Gandhinagar Club, Chennai 20

This is the Gandhinagar Club. We are not actually in the Gandhinagar area anymore; the main spot where you find us is out in Selaiyur. We are at House Number 29 in Jal Vayu Vihar, over in Madambakkam. Most people who live around here know the area pretty well. It is a residential part of Chennai, so it is fairly calm compared to the middle of the city. We have got our setup here and we spend the days mostly taking care of the space itself. It is not a fancy country club with golf courses or anything like that. It is just a place where people from the community can gather for a bit. We do some activities, but nothing too crazy. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy when everyone is here, but that is just how clubs are. The trees around Jal Vayu Vihar give us some nice shade during the afternoons. Selaiyur has changed a lot over the years, but the club stays mostly the same. We have some chairs that have been here since we opened. The building number 29 is easy to spot once you get into the Vihar. We spend a lot of time on maintenance because the humid weather can be tough on the walls. We do not have a big budget for fancy renovations. We just fix things when they break. Our members are mostly local folks who have lived in the area for a long time.
