If you’ve ever walked down Thayar Saheb Street off G.P. Road, you know how packed it gets. We are at No. 22/49, right in the middle of all the auto part shops. Bafna Automotive Overseas Company is basically a place where we handle parts for various vehicles, mostly thinking about shipping them further out. It’s hot in Chennai, and our shop gets its fair share of the sun. We have fans running all day but they just move the warm air around. There are piles of metal and plastic parts everywhere. You have to be careful where you step. We spend a lot of time packing boxes and labeling them for transport. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the shelves. People come by asking for specific bolts or gears, and we do our best to find them in the stacks. The street outside is always full of motorcycles and carts. Sometimes it’s so loud you can’t hear the person standing next to you. We take our breaks when the traffic dies down a little. It’s just a family-style operation where everyone chips in. No suits or ties here, just old shirts and grease. We’ve been in this spot for years. It’s nothing fancy, just a solid place to do business in a busy part of town. We don’t really do much on the internet, mostly just over the phone and in person.
