Being located on 18th Cross Street in Chennai means we deal with a lot of noise and traffic every single day. If you have ever tried to park a vehicle on this street, you know exactly what I am talking about. Our building is one of those typical Chennai structures where space is tight but we manage to fit everything in. It gets really humid inside, so we usually have the fans running at full speed from early morning. We handle a lot of different things related to Exide here, mostly keeping track of what goes in and out. It’s a busy spot. Often, you’ll see the delivery trucks trying to maneuver through the narrow road while people are shouting directions. It can be a bit chaotic. We have a small team here and most of us have been working together for a long time. We drink a lot of tea from the stall around the corner just to keep going through the afternoon slump. There is no big sign or anything very flashy, just the work we do. People come in with their old batteries, looking for replacements, and we just help them out. The floor is usually covered in some kind of dust or scuff marks from the heavy boxes. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to keep things moving. Chennai is a fast city, but in this little corner of Cross Street, we have our own pace.
