If you know the Vasanthi Theatre, then you know where we are. We sit right across from it on Kutty Street. It’s a lively part of Perambur Barracks Road, always people moving about. We’ve stayed in this spot at No. 1 because it’s familiar and easy for people to find. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves and a few desks where we handle the paperwork. Things get a bit cluttered during the week when new stock comes in. We try to keep it organized, but sometimes boxes just end up wherever there’s a gap on the floor. It’s a simple setup. We don’t have a big reception area or anything like that. People just walk in, ask what they need, and we see if we have it in the back. My tea gets cold half the time because the phone starts ringing or a delivery driver shows up early. The street outside is usually loud with traffic and the sounds from the theatre crowds in the evenings. We’ve grown used to the noise over the years. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to stay on top of the orders. We don’t do anything flashy here. It’s just about moving the goods and making sure the numbers match up at the end of the day before we lock up. There are always chores to do, like dusting the top shelves or fixing the light.
