We’ve been working out of 23 Ponnangipuram for a good while now. Being right off Nungambakkam High Road means it’s always busy around here. At Elgi Equipments, we mostly spend our time dealing with air compressors and all the bits that go with them. It’s not a fancy office with big rugs or anything. It’s a place where work actually happens. The floor is often covered in tools and parts. Most of the staff have been around long enough to know the sound of a machine that isn't running right. We get people coming in from all over the city needing help with their setups. Some days the traffic outside is so loud you can barely hear yourself think, but we just get on with it. We don’t really do the corporate talk or spend money on big signs. We just focus on getting the hardware ready for whoever needs it next. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so the tea breaks are something everyone looks forward to. We know the shopkeepers nearby and the guys who deliver the mail. It’s a regular neighborhood vibe despite being an industrial kind of business. We try to keep things simple and honest. If a compressor needs a part, we find it. If someone has a question about pressure, we answer it as best as we can. That’s just the daily routine for us here in Nungambakkam.
