A.K.K. Industries

You’ll find A.K.K. Industries located at No. 45/3 on Jawaharlal Nehru Salai in Ekkattuthangal. This area is pretty well known for having a lot of small workshops and industrial units. Our place is no different; it’s a functional space where we handle a lot of manufacturing and assembly work. There is usually a bit of grease on the floor and the smell of cut metal in the air. We’ve been set up here for a while and the staff mostly lives nearby, so we all know each other well. The morning starts with opening the big shutter and checking what needs to be finished from the day before. It gets quite warm in Ekkattuthangal during the summer months, so we try to do the heaviest work before noon. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people usually just see our sign on the Salai and stop in to ask if we can help them with a project. The office is just a small corner partitioned off with some plywood where we keep the ledger and the phone. It’s a practical setup. We spend most of our time out on the floor with the tools rather than sitting behind a desk. It's the kind of place where you have to wash your hands twice before you head home at night. We just focus on getting the parts right and keeping the machines in good shape for the next day.
