We are located on the second floor of Alsa Towers, which is at 186-187 Poonamalle High Road in Kilpauk. If you know Chennai, you know how packed that road is, especially near the hospital. Alsa Towers has been around for a while, and it’s a familiar landmark for most people in the neighborhood. Doosan Babcock Energy I is mainly an engineering office. We deal with power plants and big energy projects. It’s not the kind of place where we make things on-site; instead, it’s where all the technical drawings, project management, and planning happen. The office is full of desks and computers, and usually, there are a few rolls of blueprints lying around. It can get a bit stuffy when the AC is struggling against the Chennai heat, but we get by. We aren't a huge crowd here, just a group of engineers and support staff. We talk about boilers and turbines like other people talk about their cars. It’s specialized work, and it can be stressful when a project deadline is coming up. We don't have any flashy decor. Most of the walls are covered with project schedules. We go out for lunch at the local spots on Poonamalle High Road, or just bring something from home. It’s a steady, quiet kind of workplace where the focus is on getting the engineering details right so nothing goes wrong at the plant. It’s not always exciting, but it’s important work.
