Chudi Park

Our place is at Plot No. 1 in Krishna Vijaya Nagar. We’re out in Mannivakkam. It’s a decent area, and it is getting busier these days. We deal with clothes, mostly what you’d expect from the name of the shop. We started this because we wanted a local spot for people to find stuff without traveling too far into the city. The shop isn't huge but we fit a lot in. We spend a lot of time sorting through stock and helping folks who walk in. It’s mostly just us working here every day. Mannivakkam has changed a lot, but we’ve stayed at this same spot for the duration. We don't do much advertising. People usually just hear about us from a friend or see the sign when they’re driving through Krishna Vijaya Nagar. It can get a little crowded when a new shipment comes in. We just pile things up and start organizing. It’s a lot of manual work, checking sizes and colors one by one. We try to keep things simple. If someone needs something, we look for it. If we don’t have it, we just say so. There are no big corporate rules here. We just like running our own small business. The tea stall nearby is where we usually take our breaks in the afternoon. It’s a regular routine for us. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down. It is just basic retail work but it keeps us connected to the neighborhood.
