Universal Power Systems Pvt. Ltd. sits over on Mcnicholas Road in Chetpet. It’s a pretty central spot in Chennai, so there is always a lot of traffic and noise outside our door. We’ve been operating out of this building for a while now, focusing on power backup stuff and electrical systems. You know how it is in this city, the power can be a bit unreliable sometimes, so we spend our time putting together units and checking batteries. The workshop gets pretty warm during the summer months, but we just keep the fans going and stay on top of the work. It’s not a shiny corporate office with glass walls or anything. It’s more of a practical space where we can actually get our hands on the equipment. Our team is just a handful of local people who know their way around a circuit board. We spend a lot of time on the phone with customers or out at sites trying to get things running again after a breakdown. There isn't really a grand plan or a fancy philosophy behind what we do. We just come in, look at the schedule, and try to get through the list of repairs and installations before the day ends. The stairs up to the office are a bit steep, and the paint is peeling in a few spots, but it works for us. We just focus on the hardware and making sure the systems do what they are supposed to do.
