We’ve been sitting here at No 40 Zahabia Apartments for a good while now. If you know Rajaji Salai, you know how busy it gets around Parrys. It’s always a bit of a rush outside with all the lorries and people moving about, but inside our office, we just focus on getting the logistics sorted. We aren't a big fancy corporate office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a regular place where we handle overseas shipments and deal with a lot of paperwork every day. Most of us have been working here long enough to know the names of the tea sellers downstairs. Sometimes the phones don't stop ringing and other times it's just the sound of the fans whirring while we check schedules. Being in Parrys means we are close to the heart of the trade here in Chennai. It can be quite loud with the traffic horns, but that’s just how this part of the city is. We handle a lot of things going out of the country and coming back in. Most of the time, we are just sitting at our desks making sure things are where they should be. It’s practical work. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations or trying to look like something we aren't. We just do the job from this apartment building and try to keep things moving. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we manage.
